BLACKPINK’s “See U Later” Deemed Unfit For Broadcast By KBS

KBS has deemed BLACKPINK‘s “See U Later” from their album “SQUARE UP” unfit for broadcast. They banned the song due to profanity and vulgar expressions.

The lyrics “gae jitnuen sori (개 짖는 소리)” meaning ‘f*cking nonsense’, “yangachi (양아치)” meaning ‘gang’, and “hook ganguhya (훅간거야)” meaning ‘going in hard’ were cited as problematic.

Along with BLACKPINK’s “See U Later”, Cube Entertainment‘s unit track “Mermaid” performed by BTOB‘s Minhyuk, Peniel, Ilhoon, CLC‘s Yeeun, PENTAGON‘s Wooseok, and (G)I-DLE‘s Jeon Soyeon was deemed inappropriate as well. They claimed that the song contained lewd and obscene lyrics that directly and indirectly portrayed sex between men and women or homosexual lovers.

The lyrics in question were “I’m glad tonight’s going to be rougher”, “The love I hold in my two hands will probably get red”, “Our breathing will get faster and my response will get rougher well into the late morning, no, until we’re exhausted.”

ELO, an artist under AOMG, also had his track called “Lip Service ft. Dynamic Duo” banned from broadcast for similar reasons. Deepflow, Nucksal, ODEE, and Wutan‘s “TIKITAKA WORLDCUP” was banned for mentioning specific brand names. Lastly, DoonDoon‘s “I Want To Go See The Cherry Blossoms” was deemed unfit for slandering a specific individual, group, or profession.
