Following his death, XXXTentacion’s music is continuing to break records. Having already broken the record for most Spotify streams in a single day (beating Taylor Swift’s previous record), he’s now the first solo artist in 21 years to posthumously achieve a No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with “SAD!”
It’s fitting that the last artist to receive that honor was Notorious B.I.G., who also died having been fatally shot. His tracks “Mo Money Mo Problems” and “Hypnotize” both No. 1 in 1997.
Overall, XXX is the eighth solo artist to have topped the Hot 100 posthumously.
